Let me tell you how it all began.
My life took a difficult turn at the beginning of this year (January 2023). I did not understand what was going on, and I didn’t want to accept the new life I’d been medically ushered into. I turned to God in prayer for an answer to my “Oh why God? Why me?”
He gave me an answer, but it wasn’t what I expected. His reply brought a heaviness to my heart and a strong feeling of a greater call on my life. I understood what he wanted from me, but it wasn’t clear. I kept praying to God to make that call real to me; to understand what it meant.
For months, I kept on praying, but things were not so clear yet. As the months passed by, my uncertainty grew, and I felt the call of God on my life getting stronger and stronger. I remember putting the pieces of the concept together on paper. I waited patiently for God to meet me when He was ready.
At the moment I least expected, He spoke to me in simple language, and suddenly I grasped the meaning behind His words. It was in that instant that I caught a glimpse of the path He had meticulously laid out for me. The purpose was so vividly evident that it confirmed the transformative state of my new life. Once I comprehended what God desired from me, I diligently set things in motion to prepare myself for this extraordinary journey.
This call of God has bred the new Woman + Elegance + God (WEG). Woman + Elegance + God is meant to create a society for women in Ghana (and around the world), both educated and uneducated, in which they can grow spiritually and physically. A society in which they are equipped with the necessary tools to transform their lives to become the best versions of themselves.
The zeal is to start a movement where every woman is supported and guided with the necessary information to grow in her businesses, finances, marriage, family, relationships, and spirituality. We aim to empower women to expand their horizons, dream big, and build their relationship with God so that they can find the purpose God has for them. We are creating a culture where every woman exhibits God’s image and glory in modesty, humility, and through the gospel.
MISSION: Our mission is to empower women with the tools necessary to drive physical and spiritual transformation through spiritual and experiential innovation.
VISION: Our vision is to create a community where women support each other to grow in all dimensions, where women are taught to prioritize modesty and good health, where women help other women’s businesses, where women build up their spirituality, establish a connection, and a personal relationship with God.
On November 19, 2023, our team embarked on our inaugural outreach initiative. We had the privilege of extending our support to five remarkable women, each with unique circumstances including single mothers and widows. The donation event took place at the Suncity Congregation, a Presbyterian church located in Agbogba, Accra, Ghana. We chose this particular venue as it offered convenience for the recipients who lived far away. It’s important to note that the church played no role in the donation process; we simply utilized their premises for the event.
Each woman got rice, oil, tuber of yam, a crate of eggs, a pack of drinks, sachets of tomato paste, sardines, washing powder and soaps, bathing soaps, and a bundle of toilet rows.
I, as the founder Paulina Bonsu-Donkoh, personally engaged in a conversation with these women, reassuring them of God’s deep concern for their well-being. To offer solace, I shared a powerful scripture from the Bible, specifically 1 Peter 5:6, which states, “Cast all your anxieties upon Him because He cares for you.” My intention was to convey the message that God’s love and care extend to each of them individually. I encouraged them to unburden themselves by entrusting all their worries to Him, as He is more than willing and capable of lifting their burdens.
We have touched five lives today but we will touch millions tomorrow.
Woman + Elegance + God is all about being a woman in God’s definition.
