Do you ever feel like your spiritual life is slipping away because of how busy life gets? Between work, family, business, deadlines, and endless notifications, it’s so easy to end the day realizing you didn’t pray, didn’t read your Bible, and barely had a moment of stillness.
And you ask yourself, how could I forget?
I know that struggle because I’ve lived it too many times. And if you’re reading this, you probably feel the same tug of war: a heart that longs to be closer to God, but a schedule that keeps pulling you away.
The good news is, you don’t have to choose between a busy life and a strong spiritual life. You can grow spiritually even in your busiest seasons if you learn to incorporate God into your daily routine. Let’s talk about how.
Recognize That Busyness Doesn’t Cancel Your Spiritual Life

The first lie we often believe is: “I’m too busy, so God understands if I don’t spend time with Him.”
But think about this: if your soul is what keeps you going, isn’t it the last thing you should neglect? Just as you wouldn’t starve your body of food during a busy day, don’t starve your spirit. Your spiritual life doesn’t vanish when you’re busy, it just needs intentional care.
Start by shifting your mindset: Instead of waiting for perfect quiet hours (that may never come), look for God in the cracks and corners of your daily routine.
Make Prayer Your Breath, Not Your Duty

Sometimes we think prayer only “counts” when we kneel for 30 minutes in silence. However, your spiritual life grows when you learn to pray as naturally as you breathe. Flow naturally, constantly, in every moment, no matter what you’re doing, because you still breathe if you’re in pain.
- Whisper a short prayer before you answer emails.
- While cooking, say “Lord, give me strength”.
- Thank God while you sit in the ‘trotro’ instead of just scrolling.
This turns your busy season into a season of constant communion with God. Does it not amaze you that, no matter how busy we are, we can sneak a peek and watch one or two videos on social media, then continue with our busy lives?
The Bible says, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). That means prayer should be your lifestyle, not just a slot on your schedule.
Feed Your Spiritual Life with Bite-Sized Scripture

If you can scroll TikTok for 10 minutes, you can read a verse. If you can check WhatsApp statuses, you can check a Psalm.
Your spiritual life doesn’t require hours at once; it requires consistency. Use Bible apps that send you daily verses. Stick a verse card on your desk. Listen to the audio Bible while driving.
For instance, if you’re stressed at work, keep a verse like “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you” (Psalm 55:22) close by. Let it be your lifeline through the day.
Protect a Sacred 10 Minutes
Here’s the truth: your schedule will always be full. But if you don’t schedule God in, the world will schedule Him out.
Pick one non-negotiable slot each day, maybe 10 minutes in the morning before you grab your phone, or step down from your bed, or at night before bed. Use that time for prayer, journaling, or reading a devotion.
Ten minutes doesn’t sound like much, but over weeks, it transforms your spiritual life. It’s not about quantity; it’s about faithfulness.
Bring God Into Your Everyday Routines

Your spiritual life deepens when you stop separating the “holy” from the “ordinary.” God wants to meet you in the laundry room, in the office, at the gym.
- Worship while washing dishes.
- Pray with your children before school.
- Thank Him while walking to the bus stop.
Every moment becomes sacred when you invite God into it. This is how your spiritual life thrives even when your schedule is overflowing.
Personal Testimony
I’ll be honest, I used to think I needed hours of quiet to grow spiritually. But when I became a parent and my work got busier, those hours disappeared. I felt guilty. I thought I was failing God.
Then I learned to pray in the shower. To read one Psalm during lunch. To worship while folding laundry. And you know what? My spiritual life didn’t shrink; it grew. Because I stopped trying to fit God in and started living with Him.
When I started this lifestyle, it felt too hypocritical. Like, what are you doing, girl? As it became part of me, gradually, I realised that it deepened my connection with God. It was me and God together in all aspects of my life.
Try it, and you’ll fall in love with God and your spiritual life more. It wouldn’t feel like a burden or a difficult task you need to get done with already.
Your spiritual life is not about perfect routines
Your spiritual life is not about perfect routines. It’s a cultivated relationship. And like any relationship, it can grow in short calls, quick check-ins, and constant love, not just in long conversations.
So don’t let busyness or life rob you of God’s presence. Instead, let your busy season be the very soil where your spiritual life flourishes.
it’s you, life, and God. And that’s a beautiful love story.
