Today is a purposeful day. Do you know why? It’s because today is the day you rid yourself of all toxicity, negativity, and pessimism that prevent you from living life to the fullest. Your life is precious and priceless, that is why you need to be in an environment or amongst people who do not emit bad energy.

A popular American motivational speaker, Les Brown once said, “Don’t waste another minute dealing with a toxic, negative, energy-draining person. Some people are wired for negativity. They love being argumentative, combative, and abusive. Run for your life as quickly as possible.”

We have to admit it; we all give off bad energy in one way or another. It’s just that some of us are eager to rid of such bad energy and work on ourselves to prevent influencing others with that spirit-draining vibe.

Most importantly, if you are ridding yourself of bad energy, you have to guard yourself and prevent receiving that energy back. So, to protect yourself, here are six powerful ways you can protect yourself from bad energy, but before that, let’s find out what bad energy is.

What is Bad Energy, and how does it affect you?

Bad energy is any negative thoughts or emotions that exhaust you mentally or physically. You may not see it, but you can feel it. It makes you anxious, restless, furious, jealous, abusive, pessimist, nervous, and many others.

We experience bad energy from our environment, from negative people, and even from ourselves. It prevents us from progressing or succeeding, makes us reluctant, and causes us to bring others down when they are developing.

  • You annoyingly complain about everything
  • You have sleepless nights because you feel you need to do something destructive
  • You are jealous all the time
  • Always anxious or nervous

6 WAYS TO PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST NEGATIVE ENERGY

  • Identify how you react to bad energy.

The best step to protecting yourself against bad energy is identifying how you react to it. When someone says something you don’t like, do you get upset? Do you look down on yourself? Do you crash everything down? Or do you disassociate yourself from the world? When you identify how you react to bad energy, you become aware of how serious it affects your life and then you learn how to protect yourself against it.

  • Remind yourself about the importance of your sanity before you step outside.

Negative people are good at making you think that you are worthless, senseless, and incapable. They plant those seeds there and let you nurture them until they grow, consume you, and paralyze you. The only way to free yourself is to guard your sanity. By guarding your sanity, you constantly remind yourself of its importance.

You can write it on a piece of paper (your mental health is important- don’t let what anybody says get into you- don’t take things personally) and paste it on the wall, where you can see it every day before you leave your home.

  • Always filter your environment.

If you don’t want to swallow something bad alongside the good, you appreciate the usefulness of a filter. At your workplace, church, home, school, meetings, ceremonies, etc., you will always receive bad energy from people.

It can be a jealous friend or work colleague, a ‘wicked’ boss or in-law, or someone who dislikes you for no reason. What you do to protect yourself from these people or such an environment is ‘filter.’ You filter by selecting the kind of people you surround yourself with. Make sure those people have a positive aura around them because they will shape you into the best version of yourself.

Also, determine what gets into you. Whenever you talk to people, decide what to take in and what to ignore.

  • Repel the bad energy with good energy.

The world would be a better place if we all repaid evil with good. Most people pay evil with evil and that is why evil still rests in our world. Let’s change the world for good with the little we can- shall we? Always repel bad energy with good energy.

When someone throws insults at you, don’t insult back. You can move away from that environment. When you find yourself in an abusive relationship, break up that relationship. If your boss tells you that you are a nobody or you can never be a boss or succeed, work harder and smarter to make it big time.

If someone does something very bad to you, repay the person with something good. That way, you are planting a good seed into the world and helping yourself too. You are preventing yourself from being an instrument of toxicity or a body of bad energy.

  • Work on yourself.

Another way to protect yourself against bad energy is to work on yourself all the time. Strive to be better, progress, and succeed. Keep your mind occupied with positivity. Be optimistic. Set life plans for yourself. If you have something good and purposeful you are thinking about, you don’t have time to think about what others say or do. Practice forgiveness and learn to control your temper.

  • Raise your Vibrations

Connect your Bluetooth and listen to high-frequency music that calms your spirit. Listen to gospel music or positive words of affirmation, etc. You can engage in gratitude practices; it shifts your focus from problems to blessings. In another beneficial way, you can be intentional about protecting yourself by eating high-vibration foods (organic meals, fresh fruits, water).

You are in charge of yourself. People have much power over you if you allow them. They influence you badly if you allow them. Protect your energy, protect yourself.

By now, you might be wondering, “What if I can’t avoid negative people at work?” You don’t always have control over who you interact with, but you can set emotional boundaries. Limit conversations, protect your mental space, and avoid engaging in unnecessary drama.
